ORCO purchased the uncompleted structure that will be the future Women's Shelter for victims of domestic violence in 2015. Through grant funding from Cherokee Nation Community & Cultural Outreach and an $80,000 donation from Tribal Councilor Frankie Hargis, the organization is nearly finished with the interior construction.
Once complete, the shelter will feature six two-bedroom apartments and one studio apartment. All apartments will be completely furnished and will include private kitchens and bathrooms.
ORCO hopes to have the first floor complete and open for use in 2018, with the second story apartments being completed this year and open in 2019. Continue to check back on the Women's Shelter section of the website for updates.
